Want to talk diversity
than let's talk diversity because in most bands music you can tell where
their influences come from and usually it is only one or two different
styles. However the Sons of Champlin blow my mind in trying to figure
out just what influences them, and after listening to the album really
well I have come to realize that EVERYTHING is an influence to these guys.
When you throw in
the CD you're going to hear a combination or funk, blues, jazz, and rock.
They remind me of the Eagles mixed with the Grateful Dead and a touch
of modern day Dave Matthews Band.
They blend all types
of instruments together and have great jam sessions in each song. This
is a really good album if you like to dance and move to your music. They
use standard instruments and then throw in some trumpet, trombone, saxes,
Hammond organ, and vibraphone, talk about a mix. These guys are great
band who have been around for years and have taken all the different styles
of music, which they grew up with, and threw them all together into one
sound. If you love jam bands or just like listening to something new then
I would pick up this album.
